We suggest booking your goGLOW 2-3 days before a main event like a gala or wedding, and booking your glow 1 day before you leave for vacation!
If you are new to goGLOW and considering it before your wedding day, a ‘trial’ tan is suggested for weddings 2-6 weeks prior. We offer brides 20% off their ‘trial tan’ when booked 2-6 weeks before the big day! Book using the note ‘bridal trial 20% off’ and we will take care of your discount when you pay after the service is complete!
On average, 5–7 days. Factors such as skin type, activities and maintenance can cause your results to vary. Your goGLOW specialist will suggest products to help maintain your goGLOW, and you can shop these in advance here!
The rapid solution is a $10 add on. It is a stronger solution (higher % of DHA with more binding factors making it a little stickier) which allows you to rinse off sooner.
You can take a cool water rinse a few hours after you are sprayed, instead of the regular solution in which you wait 12+ hours. Your specialist will give you an exact rinse time based on your consultation; this rinse time is very important as the end result will depend on how long you waited to rinse off initially. If you rinse 2 hours later, the end result will be significantly lighter than if you waited 5+ hours! We suggest 3-4 hours for most clients. The first shower is just cool water; no body wash, soaps, shampoo, etc. The color will continue to develop for 24 hours after you were sprayed. If at any point, after you rinse, you feel dark enough and you’re satisfied with your color development, you can take a full shower with CLEANSE and HYDRATE, use makeup etc. There is no difference in the quality of the result compared to the ‘regular’ solution.
To get the best results, we suggest waiting at least 12 hours before rinsing off in the shower or using any products (with our regular solution). We use the highest grade solutions on the market today. Your tan will not feel sticky or have a strong odor before your first rinse.
Your goGLOW specialist can discuss other options with you, like our Rapid Tan formula, which allows you to rinse off in 3-5 hours (sometimes sooner, sometimes longer!). Your goGLOW specialist will give you an exact time to rinse, which depends on your skin’s complexion and your desired results. The Rapid Tan formula is best for those who are very active and would like to exercise or sweat in the first 24 hours of their goGLOW.
Alongside the industries experts in sunless tanning, we have created our own sunless solution, and source as many organic ingredients as possible. All solutions are custom mixed to the individual’s skin tone and are paraben-free and sulfate-free for optimal results.
If you are having “orange” results with other spray tans, it can be due to the variations in quality in sunless solutions. Low grade DHA and low quality (cheap) products have a tendency to react with skin poorly, causing it to look “orange.” Over exposure and over-darkening of the skin, or using expired products can also have this effect. If you are having “orange” results with high-quality solutions (like goGLOW), this could be due to your skin’s chemistry. A pH imbalance or improperly prepared skin can impact how your goGLOW tan looks. We start each service with a pH balancing solution that coats your skin and balances any overly-dry areas to create the most even and natural looking glow possible. Traditional soaps (think Dove, Dial, Caress etc.) strip the skin’s acid mantle of it’s natural repairing oils, which leads to an unbalanced pH – which creates uneven fading, rapid fading, orange tans and dry skin. We recommend our pH balancing sulfate-free CLEANSE body wash for all showers before and after your goGLOW.
Our team has been extensively trained on the goGLOW superior sunless tanning technique, one that cannot be replicated anywhere else. We are truly passionate about our craft and are always looking to perfect it. Simply put, it’s not a spray tan it’s a goGLOW.
During your goGLOW session, we recommend wearing dark undergarments or swimwear. Remember, what you wear during your session will be your “tan line”!
For our male clients, undergarments are required.
For our female clients, this is up to you and your level of comfort.
After your goGLOW session, it is best to wear long pants and long sleeves (cotton, breathable and loose clothing) to avoid skin to skin contact. You should avoid wearing any denim, or tight sports wear within the first few hours, so plan accordingly.
We suggest getting a manicure and pedicure service a day or two before your goGLOW tan. Getting a full manicure and pedicure AFTER your goGLOW would involve soaking and scrubbing, which would remove the goGLOW from your hands, arms, feet, and legs.
If you need to get your nail services done AFTER the goGLOW, we recommend a “polish change only”.
Our solutions do not stain nail polish colors, and can easily be wiped off the nails.
For your first shower, we recommend just a cool water rinse. This means no soaps! To dry, pat your skin lightly with a towel. After your first rinse you can apply HYDRATE lotion.
After 24 hours, or when you are happy with your color development after you have rinsed, shower with CLEANSE, a sulfate-free body wash. This is available to purchase at the time of your service or through our shopping tab on our website.
Avoid long hot showers, baths, loofahs and exfoliants for 5–7 days.
Avoid excessive sweating.
Apply HYDRATE twice daily 24 hours after your goGLOW. Avoid moisturizers with the following ingredients—alpha hydroxy acids, alcohol, ethanol, mineral oil and petroleum. These products promote your skin’s natural exfoliation, dry skin and strip your skin of its gorgeous glow!
Drink plenty of water before and after your goGLOW, as it keeps your skin hydrated.
Minimize the time you spend in chlorinated water.
Our solution is water-soluble and should come out of fabrics that are machine washable.
We recommend that you wear loose-fitting long sleeves, long pants and dark cotton clothing right after your goGLOW session, and avoid wearing anything “dry clean only” until after your first cool water rinse. We are not responsible for any clothing that is stained during or after the tan process.
You shouldn’t. Spray tanning on top of any layer of sunburned skin is at risk for peeling. Exfoliating aggressively prior to the spray tan may irritate the burnt area which can trigger peeling skin. Once the tan is applied, the affected area may become dry and begin the peeling process. When the tan developed and the peel occurs, it begins to look very patchy and uneven. The areas that are most at risk for peeling are the décolletage, shoulders and upper back. Even if the sunburn was mild, a few weeks ago and appears to be healed, damaged skin cells may still be under the surface and affect how your goGLOW develops. Stay protected with generous amounts of sunscreen when you have skin exposed to the sun!
Not necessarily. It depends on how deep the tan lines are (aka how much sun damage you’ve experienced), and the size of the lines. We can do our best, but we cannot guarantee full tan line coverage.
Bottom line, use lots of sunscreen and do not rely on your spray tan artist to fill in tan lines!
For an event where tan line coverage is critical, we strongly recommend a trial tan 2-3 weeks before the event to ensure you’re comfortable with the process and happy with the results. Keep in mind you will not be able to spray tan over a recently sunburnt skin (within 4 weeks of a sunburn).
Once you have rinsed off, and your color is developed to your liking, you’re ready to CLEANSE and HYDRATE! Keep in mind color development occurs for up to 24 hours.
CLEANSE is our pH balancing and hydrating body wash, safe for daily use and perfect for using with your goGLOW custom sunless tan. We love this formula as it is sulfate-free, paraben-free, and boosts skin’s elasticity while keeping you smooth and hydrated. Hyaluronic acid, organic Calendula extract, and organic Meadowsweet extract are the all-stars in this product as they are full of antioxidants.
HYDRATE is our argan-oil infused whipped body butter. Apply 2 times daily post-goGLOW to increase the durability and maintain vibrancy of your goGLOW tan. This antioxidant packed hydrating body butter improves skin tone, texture and pigmentation. Lock in moisture with HYDRATE for natural, youthful looking skin everyday, but especially with your goGLOW. HYDRATE is gluten-free, vegan, paraben + sulfate-free lotion made with argan oil, shea butter, hyaluronic acid, aloe leaf juice, organic hemp seed oil and other yummy plant-based oils and hydrators.
If you do not own CLEANSE or HYDRATE yet, we suggest you AVOID soaps—and anything that contains sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate (SLS). Bar soaps and Dove body products are especially harsh to the skin, as they have the most SLS and highest pH, so those are a no-go for most skin types. SLS is an additive and an emulsifier that allows cleansing products to foam. This ingredient strips your skin of its natural oils and fatty acids—which will take your tan with it! Instead, try a soap-free & sulfate-free cleanser (like CLEANSE) in all of your showers, which will gently lift any dirt and impurities off your skin while leaving your goGLOW perfectly intact!
When you’re ready to moisturize and hydrate, generic drugstore lotions are not your spray tan friends! Common lotions have parabens (preservatives) to lengthen the product’s shelf life. Four different types of parabens can be found in cosmetics: ethyl paraben, butyl paraben, methyl paraben, and propyl paraben. Instead, look for lotions and products that are paraben-free and use them within 6 months to a year. Mineral oil is in most lotions and cosmetics, and works by forming an oily layer on top of the skin and trapping water in your skin. Using mineral oil based lotions will cause your tan to fade quicker because mineral oil is made from petroleum, and breaks down the spray tan on the top layer of your skin. Instead, try a natural oil that is good for your skin and spray tan—like argan-oil and coconut-oil based hydrating lotions, like HYDRATE.
Alpha hydroxy acids, lactic acids, citric acids and glycolic acids help your dead skin cells fall off—great for exfoliating a few days before your goGLOW but not so great to make your tan last! Skip these ingredients until your goGLOW has faded.
If you like to maintain a healthy anti-aging regimen on your face (toners, exfoliators, retinoids, brightening masks etc.), please continue to do so! Keep in mind, the facial skin layers will shed faster, and will lose the goGLOW color a bit faster. goGLOW TOUCH UP is an at-home aerosol sunless solution formula you can use anytime to refresh the areas that fade faster (think face, decolletage and hands!)
For longer vacations, or when you just want your goGLOW to last a little bit longer, you can incorporate goGLOW EXTEND into your at-home routine! EXTEND is our gradual self tanning moisturiser to extend the life of your natural and sunless glow, while illuminating and tightening the skin. This moisturizer is jam-packed with plant-based oils and antioxidants, like coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, hyaluronic acid, black tea extract, caffeine, and so many more!
Yes! But first, we’ll need a signed waiver from your parent/guardian.
Congratulations! We will not provide services to those in their first trimester. After your first trimester you are ready to get glowing after completion of our consent form (this can be signed when you arrive to your appointment).
After your first rinse, the cosmetic bronzer in the tan formula is washed away. This portion is water soluble and should easily come out of any machine-washable clothing. If any residual cosmetic bronzer is left on your skin (make sure to rinse very well) then that technically could rub off onto clothing, but it is unlikely to stay on the skin for more than 1 or 2 showers. If you use our CLEANSE wash that should help remove the excess bronzer and lock in the tan to your skin.
The DHA (active tan ingredient) browns your skin cells, so it’s not a dye or makeup that can transfer. However your skin cells can be rubbed away due to tight friction and sweat (think wiring in an underwire bra, or boning in a tight dress). This would only be evident on the *inside* of a garment, and very likely come clean when your dress is cleaned and preserved after the wedding when your dress is dirty regardless! 🙂
You could apply some powder to your skin mid-day where your dress rubs; Body Dust by Megababe is one of our favorites!
Another thing to consider; if you exfoliate very well prior to your spray appointments (using our EXFOLIATE mitt ) then that will remove the dead skin cells properly. If your skin has not been properly scrubbed the tan is more likely to ‘rub off’ when sweat + tight clothing rubs your skin.
